Dear future Kinderhaus families,
Thank you for your interest in Kinderhaus, San Francisco’s only German immersion preschool. Our preschool offers families in San Francisco with a unique language-immersion program rooted in play-based learning to enable ample opportunities for growth, discovery, and development.
Kinderhaus children will grow plants, build gingerbread houses, and create recycled art. Our children also keep busy playing in mud, painting windows, dancing, singing, and pretending. At Kinderhaus, we are always having fun and always learning.
Our preschool and playground activities are complemented by field trips within the city. Most recently, in September 2021, we learned about farming and picked apples at Alemany Farms.
Although, linguistically, we are focused on the German language and culture, we are guided by the principles of diversity and embrace children of all backgrounds at our school. The teachers and I focus on facilitating children’s interactions with their peers in a respectful way while developing courtesy, compassion, self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-reliance. Children who join Kinderhaus will not only grow intellectually and socially, but also will find our school to be a safe and welcoming place.
If you can’t already tell, we believe Kinderhaus to be a special place. We are a preschool dedicated to empowering children to speak confidently and discover their worlds in German. Upon leaving our program, our children, whom we affectionately call “Kinderhausmaus,” go off into the world equipped with the tools needed to support life-long learning and to express their individuality with a solid foundation in the German language.
